Insurance Hikes "Wake-Up Call" for Snowmobile Clubs, Drivers...
Thousands of kilometres of trails in Hastings County could be shut down next winter by the OFSC because of skyrocketing
insurance premiums - 1000% hike! Joe Lightfoot, Prince Edward Trail Riders Snowmobile Club President says the situation
is a serious wake-up call to snowmobilers. "People still think they can drink and drive and run the machines at warp
speed down the trail. It has to stop." OFSC launched a campaign called Save Ontario Snowmobiling, or SOS, to encourage
snowmobilers to contact their MPP's and the Queen's Park office of Minister of Tourism, Jim Bradley. The County Weekly

CHEERS! to the Prince Edward Trail Riders Snowmobile Club, whose members completed the
decking and railings on the County's Millennium Trail's longest bridge over Consecon Lake and at the stream in Wellington.
Drivers of both four-wheelers and snowmobiles are advised to obey the speed limits and use common sense when approaching others
who are using the trail, notes Ron Binch, Millennium Trail Committee Chairman. The County's agreement with the snowmobile
club is when grooming begins, four-wheeling ends. Safety is a major concern for both the Trail Riders and the committee
members. The County Weekly News, January 16/04
